What is Cyber essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed, industry supported scheme to help organisations protect themselves against common cyber attacks.
Cyber attacks come in many shapes and sizes, but the vast majority are very basic in nature, carried
out by relatively unskilled individuals. They’re the digital equivalent of a thief trying your front door
to see if it’s unlocked. Our advice is designed to prevent these attacks.
Cyber Essentials and Government Contracts
If you would like to bid for central government contracts, especially ones which involve handling sensitive and
personal information, or the provision of certain technical products and services, you will require
Cyber Essentials Certification
How can 4Site help your business with Cyber Essentials
We work on behalf of our clients who wish to attain Cyber Essentials certification, preparing and
submitting applications and implement any required changes to ensure successful attainment of
the certification. At present certification also includes some free of charge Cyber Insurance when
applying through the Certification Body IASME with whom we partner.
Whilst the certification itself is not tied directly to the new General Data Protection Regulations
coming into force in May 2018, there is certainly some crossover and most of the more technical
requirements within GDPR are also requirements to attain Cyber Essentials certification.
Why should you attain the Cyber essentials certificate?
- Reassure customers that you are working to secure your IT against cyber attack
- Attract new business with the promise you have cyber security measures in place
- You have a clear picture of your organisation’s cyber security level
- Some Government contracts require Cyber Essentials certification
